Respawn Entertainment has released the official patch notes for the second season of Apex Legends Mobile, titled Cold Snap. Loba will be the first Legend for the upcoming season, as it was revealed earlier this week – but there are plenty of other surprises coming to Apex Legends Mobile when Season 2: Cold Snap launches tomorrow, May 14 at 5PM PT/8PM Eastern time.
According to a blog on the official Apex Legends Mobile website, developers are targeting some specific in-game issues with the Cold Snap update.
Four main issues
- Frustrations about the classified system
- How are bans handled in regular matches?
- Matchmaking improvements
- Performance improvements for devices and servers
Keep reading for details of all the upcoming changes for this season of Apex Legends Mobile.
Legend is not new
Loba will be joining other Apex Mobile legends in a dropship ship this season, and her skills are exactly the same as in Apex Legends on console and PC (presumably free of the bug that plagued her tactical ability in the original version of the game for years). Loba will be available in the Store for purchase, but can also be unlocked by reaching level 25 of the Cold Snap Battle Pass.
In addition to her standard skill set, Luba – like all other mobile game legends – will have her own set of unique outfitable perks, although they won’t be revealed until the season kicks off. However, the developers revealed some of these perks in the blog post. Loba’s perks include the ability to get additional loot from chests and steal teammates’ banners, an ability quite similar to the recently leaked Remote Banner Recovery survival item, which can be added to Apex on console and PC in the future.
New limited time
Armed and Dangerous – the iconic sniper mode that was the first LTM to debut in the console and PC versions of Apex Legends – will make its mobile game debut this season.
Capture the city and new munitions: Snow bombs
Once Cold Snap is launched, the Climatizer on World’s Edge will turn on and off during a match, covering parts of World’s Edge with a blanket of snow. When Climatizer is turned on, Frosted Loot Boxes will appear on the map. Looting these frosty loot boxes (and death chests for enemies who looted Frosted Loot Boxes) will reward players with diamonds to spend on rare items in the Cold Snap Seasonal Shop.
A frosty new addition to the game is Snow Grenades, a new throwable item that damages enemies and slows them down when detonated.
seasonal store
Players can collect diamonds to spend in the new seasonal Cold Snap Shop. Diamonds can be found in loot chests during the match, on eliminated enemies, and can also be earned by completing in-game missions.
