New research reveals the ‘most searched’ anime in almost every country

A great new search has revealed the “most searched” for animated series, not only in the entire world but also in more than 146 countries!

Almost every day, a brutal war on social media is being waged on the best and worst anime series out there. Of course, this is a completely personal topic depending on what kind of content any particular fan enjoys the most.

However, comparisons between different societies, countries, and continents can definitely do a good job of bringing anime fans together. Recently, new research has surfaced that shares great data about not only the most searched anime out there, but also which series is ranked as the most searched in 146+ regions around the world.

New research highlights animation searches around the world

Broadband Choices recently conducted a research project to discover the most searched genres of animation in the entire world; They even ranked individual countries according to their favorite programmes.

The team started with a look at 100 of the most popular series, from MyAnimeList and Anime News Network, and screened the shows against monthly search volume on Google.

“Having become a niche fan base, streaming services have made Anime more accessible than ever — helping propel shows like Death Note, Demon Slayer, and One Piece to huge audiences. But what are the most popular anime franchises around the world? ?” — Jonathan Leggett, via Broadband Choices.

Using the ahrefs keyword explorer, the research project was able to rank each string for 146 regions around the world that included more than 68 million monthly Google searches.

They even combined data from series with alternate titles to help improve accuracy, including Demon Slayer/Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Dragon Ball Z/DBZ for two of the examples provided.

In sum of all searches on Google, the most searched animated series around the world are as follows:

  • Naruto 16.2%
  • Pokémon by 8.8%
  • Demon Slayer by 7.8%
  • Jujutsu Kaisen by 7.3%
  • One Piece – 7.2%
  • Attack on Titan 5.2%
  • My Hero Academia 4.9%
  • Death note – 2.8%
  • Naruto Shippuden 2.7%
  • Dragon Ball at 2.6%

Interestingly, all the top searches in each country counted; Naruto topped the charts in 93 regions, followed by Pokémon (16), Attack on Titan (11), One Piece (8), Demon Slayer (9), Jujutsu Kaisen (6), and Dragon Ball Z (2) Finally, the surprise of Burj Allah (1) was welcomed.

While it’s great to see the global rankings of the most searched for anime series, everyone wants to know exactly which shows are leading in their particular spot.

Fortunately, the team at Broadband Choices provided a detailed list of the top five most searched anime series across all 146 regions sampled in the research:
